Copper prices rallied strongly today, with Yangtze spot 1# copper quoted at 110,290 yuan/ton, up 1,610 yuan/ton and approaching the 110,000 yuan mark. Copper downstream products followed suit: oxygen-free copper wire (hard) rose to 111,450 yuan/ton, and enameled wire to 115,560 yuan/ton, both up 1,610 yuan/ton. A00 aluminum gained 200 yuan/ton to 24,380 yuan/ton.

Overseas markets were equally firm. LME copper climbed 214 USD/ton to 14,464 USD/ton, while LME aluminum edged up 14 USD/ton to 3,290 USD/ton. On the domestic futures side, SHFE copper main contract rose 1,370 yuan/ton to 109,480 yuan/ton, and SHFE aluminum added 155 yuan/ton to 24,375 yuan/ton. PVC was the exception, falling 170 yuan/ton to 4,698 yuan/ton.
