Copper prices showed a moderate rebound in the latest trading session, supported by stronger futures performance and improved market sentiment. Meanwhile, aluminum and PVC markets experienced mixed movements amid changing supply-demand conditions.

In the Yangtze spot market, the price of 1# copper increased to RMB 107,640/ton, rising RMB 350/ton compared with the previous trading day. The price of hard oxygen-free copper wire also rose by RMB 350/ton to RMB 108,800/ton, while enameled wire copper price climbed to RMB 112,910/ton.

The aluminum market showed a slight decline. The price of A00 aluminum in the Yangtze market was quoted at RMB 23,600/ton, down RMB 70/ton.

In the international futures market, LME copper increased to USD 14,052/ton, gaining USD 90/ton, while LME aluminum rose to USD 3,238/ton, up USD 20/ton.

Domestic futures markets followed a mixed trend. The SHFE copper main contract reached RMB 107,190/ton, increasing by RMB 210/ton. In contrast, the SHFE aluminum main contract declined to RMB 23,590/ton, down RMB 150/ton. Meanwhile, the PVC main contract was reported at RMB 4,710/ton, decreasing by RMB 39/ton.

Market Analysis

The recent rise in copper prices was mainly driven by stronger futures market performance and renewed buying interest. As a key industrial metal, copper continues to receive long-term support from global infrastructure investment, renewable energy development, power grid expansion, and the growth of electric vehicles.

However, aluminum and PVC markets remain under pressure due to relatively weak downstream demand and cautious market sentiment. Participants are closely monitoring macroeconomic conditions, inventory changes, and global supply-demand developments.

Impact on the Wire & Cable Industry

For the wire and cable manufacturing industry, copper price fluctuations remain a critical factor affecting production costs. Manufacturers and suppliers should continue to monitor raw material trends, optimize procurement strategies, and maintain flexible cost management to respond effectively to market volatility.

With continued investment in energy infrastructure and emerging technologies, demand for copper-based products is expected to remain stable, providing long-term support for the global cable industry.
